Coronavirus Quarantine

On Tuesday, March 10, my school decided to suspend in-person classes due to the coronavirus. Upon hearing the news, I was excited that our spring break was extended by three days, but I was also sad because I was uncertain when we would be going back.

When I told my mom the news, she immediately booked me an earlier flight to their house in Florida. On Thursday morning, March 12, I got on a plane so that I could see my parents, my brothers and my dogs and stay in quarantine with them in Florida. While I was on the plane, I wiped down my seat and continuously applied hand sanitizer so that I could take all possible measures to not be infected by the coronavirus.

Eight of my other friends were supposed to stay with me in Florida for our spring break, but my parents decided it was best to cancel the trip and reschedule for when it is safe. I was sad hearing this news, but I know it was the right decision to make.

So far during self-quarantine, me and my family have been staying in the house as much as possible and only leaving to buy groceries. To pass the time, we have been playing cards and board games. We have tried teaching my dogs new tricks (and failed). We have also been watching a lot of movies and TV shows. Although this pandemic has taken a lot away from many people, it has brought my family closer and it has been a time for all of us to take a pause from our busy lives. We have been spending a lot of quality time together, but I am still hopeful that the coronavirus is contained soon and we can get back to our normal lives.
