My Best Friends

Going into freshman year of high school, I was not sure what to expect. Walking into school on the first day was very overwhelming because there were so many new faces. I went through the day feeling very uncomfortable and feeling like I didn’t belong. This feeling lasted a few weeks until I met some friends.

I had been sitting with a few girls on the soccer and field hockey team at lunch time. I knew two of the girls who went to my grade school, one of which was on my field hockey team. At the beginning of freshman year, I still felt like I didn’t belong but that quickly changed a few weeks into school. We started to get to know each other and we clicked right away.

All of us became friends freshman year and stayed friends throughout our four years of high school. We all have a very fun relationship and always joke around with one another. We did everything together on the weekends, and even made an effort to hang out on the weekdays after school. Since college has started, we still make an effort to talk to one another every so often, and on holiday breaks we always spend our free time together. There has been ups and downs with our friend group, and every now and then we get into fights. Although the fights don’t last long, they have made us closer because we know what everyone’s boundaries are, and when someone may have gone a little too far. We have become extremely close through these past five years, and for that I am thankful. I know that I will always have someone to go to when I need help, and they understand that I am willing to help them in their times of need. I know that I am very lucky to have found a friend group as good as mine that will last forever.
