Am I A Writer?

I do not identify myself as a writer. I enjoy writing when I have to, but I never write something because I want to. One of my weaknesses for writing is when I write on a topic that I am not interested in. I find it hard to write a well written research paper when I don’t enjoy the topic I was given. It is hard for me to start the paper and draw the readers in if I am not into the topic. I often do not put as much work into these papers because I find them tedious and quite frankly, boring. One of my strengths for writing is when I am not given a specific prompt and I can write about something I am passionate about. I find that papers I write with no prompt receive better feedback from my peers and my teachers. I believe when people read my work that I am passionate about, they can feel the emotions that I put into the writing and they truly find it enticing. I really enjoy writing papers that have to do with creativity. I like creating stories that make the readers surprised when they find out the ending. When I write creative stories, I enjoy hinting at what is to come in the end, but not too much as to where they know exactly what is coming next. My main goal for this semester in writing is to put as much effort as I can into my assignments so I can show myself and others what I am capable of. I also hope that I can write things that people actually want to read, instead of reading it because they are forced.
